Further consolidation. 139/5 after 31 overs. They might be able to post a defendable target here.

In all seriousness, I really would not have expected this. England were bashed by the Aussies and Sri Lanka were looking very strong. It'll do England's confidence great good if they can go on and win. Conversely, their heads will really go down if they don't manage to win from here.

This is great stuff for England. Sri Lanka are 17-3 after 5 overs, with Anderson taking care of Jayawardene

The most intriguing thing about the ICC Champtions Trophy is to see how many teams actually take it seriously. Realistically, it's the younger and poorer brother of the Cricket World Cup and with the West Indies sending a team of rookies, it's looking less and less a Champions Trophy
The gentlemen of the game, they are always timid in the face of victory and fearless in the face of huge defeat. They can swing from brilliant to farcical and nearly always provide high quality entertainment. They have managed to produce numerous good results (test matches), but have failed to maintain consistency and push on to dominate the game of late. Useless at the shorter game.
The youngest recognised team in world cricket, they revolutionised one-day cricket with their opening over onslaughts at the 1996 World Cup. A very steady team, who like New Zealand, often prove to be more than the sum of their parts and have provided us with some of the more unusual bowlers on the world stage, such as Muralitharan or Ajantha Mendis.
