nshah (02 May 2009):
This Brad Hodge fellow is a very good player. Was excellent when he was at Lancashire and really should have played more games for Australia but, well, Australia already had a full compliment of great players.
mattroberts (01 May 2009):
...or Malinga might be awesome. Kolkata now need 19 from the last over, with two new men at the crease. One of them is McCullum though.

Apparently this Brad Hodge bloke isn't a bad player. Can you confirm that nshah? Looks like he might guide Kolkata to a much-needed victory here...

The second instalment of the Indian Premier League, the explosive Twenty20 competition. Last year's IPL brought us controversy, Bollywood glamour, grit and all out fisticuffs. More of the same this year please.
Money, can get you many things (a 27 storey house for one), but unfortunately for Mukesh Ambani, his highly paid stars flopped last year out on the pitch. They did, however, show their mettle off the field, becoming more famous for their slapping than their batting after a bout of one-way fisticuffs between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth. In hindsight, it was all bound to end in tears. Just like the time Mukesh was revoked of the 'Richest Man in The World' title the day after being given it, this team were a little above themselves. But Mukesh's success is probably not all an accident, so expect this wily business man and his team to pick themselves up, dust themselves off and mix it up. Coached by Lalchand Rajput, with Icon player Sachin Tendulkar.
Kolkata, owned by ShahRukh Khan, coached by John Buchanan and captained by the icon Sourav Ganguly (and maybe others) are a team of personalities. The team started with a bang last year, but wilted in the latter stages of the tournament. There have been all sorts of controversies in the build up to the start of IPL 2009, including John Buchanan's new masterplan of multiple captains, ShahRukh Khan's public attack on India's finest Sunny Gavaskar and Sourav's public admissions of not knowing what anybody's talking about. Unless everybody starts working together, another low finish looks on the cards. Still, there's always the possibility of ShahRuhk taking his top off, even if the chances of Sourav baring himself again seem slim. Key personnel include Ishant Sharma and the firecracker Brendon McCullum.
