Bring David Lloyd back to Lancashire is what I say. Never been the same without him.
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
Looks like Notts are putting Lancs to the sword as well. Lancs not the same side without Jimmy A. No Stuey Broad is no great shakes for Notts, just bring Sidey in instead, not a bad replacement!
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
Wicket! Ojha gets Karthik. Well, it's up to Dilshan now to see Delhi through...
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
Looks like Dilshan is on Deccan's side, oh hang on! He's just hit a four and a six! About time, he was going slower than a geriatric tortoise up till then
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
Delhi 98/3, 51 from 36 required. At least we're getting some close games nowadays, the early matches were pretty much all walkovers.
nshah (30 Apr 2009):
It's pretty even at the moment. 70 for 3 off 10, leaving another 79 runs to win off 60 balls. A couple of wickets and Deccan will fancy themselves. So let's hope they get a couple of wickets.
nshah (30 Apr 2009):
That 4th spot is going to be tight. We're getting towards the business end now for many of the teams.
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
Looks like Sehwag is back in the zone! 17 from 7 balls. That's the Sehwag we know and love. Delhi 26/0 from 2.4 so far
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
Could be a big game this afternoon, Chennai v Rajasthan, a replay of last year's final, and it could end up being the battle for the fourth qualifying spot this year (although Kings XI might have something to say about that).
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
I hope Chennai can make the semis - the fourth spot still looks fairly open, but they need to get some momentum sharpish. Delhi, Deccan and Mumbai look nailed on at the moment, and it looks like the last spot might be going to Rajasthan. It can all change though, there are a lot of games in a short time and if something starts going right for one of the stragglers - or wrong for one of the high-fliers - we could be in for a surprise.
nshah (30 Apr 2009):
Are you still fancying Chennai to win this year Matt. Any chance of Rajasthan defending? I'm pretty sure KKR and Bangalore are done. I fancy Delhi, Deccan, Mumbai and Chennai for the semis. You?
nshah (30 Apr 2009):
Hmm, bit of a poor last couple of overs there for Deccan, but I still fancy Deccan to do well. They have a good varied bowling attack, including Fiddy Edwards, leading wicket taker (maybe) RP Singh and the spinner who's name I don't know how to spell. Ojha. There we go.
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
Wow, nice bit of fielding there from Super Dan Vettori to run out Ohja. Deccan finish on 148/9. Will it be enough? Can Sehwag and Gambhir rediscover some form? Or will it be down to AB again?
mattroberts (30 Apr 2009):
1 run from the 19th over, Nannes is on fire today. 140/7 going into the last...
nshah (30 Apr 2009):
Suman's out, but Deccan are doing well here, 115 for 5 after 15 overs or so. Real character this team.

The second instalment of the Indian Premier League, the explosive Twenty20 competition. Last year's IPL brought us controversy, Bollywood glamour, grit and all out fisticuffs. More of the same this year please.
What can you say about Deccan Chargers? Disaster is probably the most apt description. Owned by the Deccan Chronicle, the team must be looking to make more positive headlines this year. It was the revolving door of the IPL last year, with heads rolling here and there and sackings a plenty. The new guy in charge this year is Darren Lehman and he'll be teaming up with captain Adam Gilchrist to try and recoup some pride. But already things are looking a bit shaky, with VVS Laxman supposedly throwing his toys out the pram due to a lack of respect, Shahid Afridi getting fired for having no respect for anyone and no one having a clue what's going on. Make sense? They certainly don't.
A team represented by two modern all action men of India, Virender Sehwag and Akshey Kumar. Akshay, once known as the action hero of Bollywood, continues to astound audiences with his talent whilst Virender's all action approach to batting continues to dumbfound bowlers around the world. Semi-finalists last year, they will be looking to go all the way this year. But will Sehwag's uncomplicated method of captaining be enough to lead his side to victory? With Gautam Gambhir as his opening partner, new kid on the block David Warner and all time legend Glenn McGrath in the ranks, it should be a good tournament. Greg Shippard will be taking up coaching duties.
